A generous community donation from the Waitohi Masonic Lodge has made a meaningful difference for patients receiving palliative care through Hospice Marlborough.
The Lodge has donated two new electric hospital beds, valued at $4,774, after a successful fundraising effort by its members. These beds will allow more patients to be cared for comfortably in their own homes, helping families provide support in a familiar and dignified environment. Mainfreight kindly waived the $550 freight cost, further supporting the initiative.
Master Craig Hammond selected Hospice Marlborough as the Lodge’s chosen charity for the year, continuing the Freemasons’ longstanding commitment to supporting local causes. The Lodge, which recently celebrated its centenary, has an impressive history of giving back to the community. Recent contributions include funding uniforms for the Queen Charlotte College Under-14 rugby team, helping the Waka Ama team travel to Rarotonga, donating computers to Waikawa Bay School, and supporting groups facing challenging personal circumstances.
Hospice Marlborough CEO Carol Crawford and Facilities and Grants Lead Sara Mitchell expressed heartfelt gratitude for the donation, noting that the new equipment will significantly enhance the quality of life for patients and ease the load on families during difficult times.
💬 “This contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families, allowing them to receive care in the comfort of their own homes.”
