Support Hospice
Every little bit helps
The services of Hospice Marlborough are free to our community and as a charitable organisation we receive just over 50% funding from Te Whatu Ora.
As a result, any funding shortfall needs to be fundraised for annually. We could not continue to provide the level and quality of care services we do without our hospice shops, fundraising activities and ongoing support and generosity of our community.
Whether it is buying from our charity shops, donating money/items, volunteering time, offering services in-kind, through business partnerships, leaving bequests, or participating in our events, it is this community support that enables us to continue providing our services across all of Marlborough.
You may also wish to support us by participating in one of our Hospice Marlborough events. Click here to see our Events Guide. If you have a general enquiry about how you may be able to further support Hospice Marlborough, please reach out to Leigh Somerville, Events & Engagement Lead.
The support of our community is truly appreciated, together we can deliver and achieve more.
Make a Donation
Hospice care is all about providing compassionate end-of-life care with respect and dignity.
Your donation helps uphold these values and ensures that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can access this type of care.
Your donation also helps us sustain our mission to provide compassionate, specialized care to individuals and their families during one of life’s most challenging periods. It not only further enables us to fund specialized programs and services that enhance the quality of care provided, it’s also an investment in the well-being and comfort of your community members when they need it most.
If you would like to make a one-off or recurring donation, you can now make these online.

Leave a Legacy
Legacy donations and bequests enable us to serve more individuals and families in the community, extending our reach and impact beyond the present generation.
As a charitable trust, Hospice Marlborough also relies on the generosity of our community through donations and gifts in wills and you may wish to consider designating a specific property, savings, or a portion of your estate as a gift.
They can also be a meaningful way to honour the memory of a loved one who received hospice care or had a connection with us.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who have already made, and are considering making, a gift to Hospice Marlborough in their will.

Donate Items We Need
Looking for another meaningful way to support Hospice Marlborough? Our Wish List offers a simple way to contribute by donating everyday essentials like laundry detergent, cat food, coffee, and other useful supplies. These donations help us maintain a warm, supportive environment for patients and their families. Whether you’re giving financially, leaving a legacy, sponsoring, or organising a fundraiser, donating simple items like the below can also really help to make a difference.
Candles are used in special moments of reflection and remembrance when a person dies. The glow of a candle provides a peaceful, comforting atmosphere for families and staff during this significant time. We ask for candles in glass containers to ensure safety and ease of use in our care spaces.
While tea is generously donated to hospices across New Zealand by Dilmah Tea, being able to offer a cup of coffee also helps create a welcoming atmosphere for patients, families, and visitors. It’s also a simple way to support our hardworking staff during long shifts. Donations of coffee are welcome, providing a comforting gesture to everyone at Hospice Marlborough.
Lexie, our in-house cat and cherished ‘Health & Meowbeing Officer,’ brings comfort, love, and plenty of laughter to staff, patients, and families. To keep her happy and healthy, we welcome donations of cat food – her favourites are Fancy Feast and Temptations, especially chicken flavour! Your support helps Lexie continue her important work at Hospice Marlborough.
Wheat bags provide soothing warmth and comfort to our patients, especially when they wrap around the lower back. We find that longer bags with 3 segments are particularly helpful in offering targeted relief. Being able to receive donations such as these helps ensure our patients feel as comfortable and supported as possible.
While much of our laundry is professionally handled, we wash items like tea towels, aprons, and other essentials in-house. Donations of laundry detergent help us maintain a clean and hygienic environment, ensuring we can continue providing fresh linens and supplies for both staff and patients. Your contribution directly supports our day-to-day operations.
Keeping our spaces clean and sanitary is crucial for the health and comfort of our patients and staff. Donations of cleaning products such as Handy Andy, bleach, dishwashing liquid, and tablets are incredibly helpful in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Your support in providing these essentials ensures we can continue to uphold our high standards of cleanliness at Hospice Marlborough.
Who doesn’t love a good cuppa and a bikkie? Biscuits of all kinds are a delightful treat for our patients and their families, providing a comforting companion to their cuppas. They’re also a fantastic pick-me-up for our staff during breaks, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Donations of odour-neutralizing toilet spray help us maintain a fresh and comfortable environment for our patients and their families. This essential product ensures our facilities are inviting and pleasant, allowing everyone to feel more at ease during their time with us.
While most of our patient meals are prepared and generously donated by Quench at Chateau Marlborough, donations of non-perishable foods like canned fruit in juice, baked beans, and spaghetti provide an additional layer of comfort for our patients. These easy-to-prepare items offer familiar and satisfying options that can be enjoyed alongside the meals provided. Your contributions help us ensure our patients have access to a variety of food choices during their stay.
Donations of wooden coat hangers, ideally in matching sets for five patient rooms, help us maintain a higher standard and a homely feel in our patient rooms. Providing consistent and stylish hangers not only enhances the aesthetics of the space but also allows our patients to feel more comfortable and at home during their stay.
Donations of indoor plant pots in varying sizes, preferably medium with internal water traps and not terracotta, help us bring a touch of nature into our care spaces. These pots enable us to create a calming and uplifting environment for our patients, enhancing their overall comfort.
Donations of matching water jugs for our patient rooms, ideally stainless steel and no heavier than 1 litre (500ml is perfect!) would be greatly appreciated. These lightweight jugs are practical for easy use by patients and staff alike, also ensuring hydration is accessible whilst being stylish.
Donations of flat single sheets in neutral colours featuring stylish patterns such as paisley, stripes, gingham, or circles and in block colours (not white or black) are greatly appreciated. These sheets can be used for all genders and help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in our patient rooms. Your contributions ensure that our linens are both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, enhancing the overall experience for our patients at Hospice Marlborough.
We would very much welcome a donation of a new set of matching, dishwasher-safe crockery in one colour such as lunch plates, small tea plates, teacups, mugs, serving platters, and cutlery for 25 people. This will enhance our Hospice Lounge for hirers. Your support helps create a welcoming and stylish meeting experience for all guests.
