Hospice Marlborough provides specialist palliative care across Marlborough.  This critical new role is being introduced at an exciting time, as we strive to develop further our model of community care. You will be a key player in driving initiatives to enhance our brand integrity, ensuring our organisation continues to be recognised as a specialist service provider of high quality, patient and whānau focused palliative care.

Key Accountabilities are to:

· Lead the ongoing implementation of organisational and clinical quality improvements by developing frameworks and improvement programmes.

· Develop, manage and maintain Hospice Marlborough policies, procedures and frameworks.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised Manger for our Redwoodtown Hospice Shops. This role will commence mid-July 2025.

Hospice Shops Manager – Redwoodtown

Hospice Marlborough provides specialist palliative care across Marlborough.  This role is critical to our fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability of our specialist palliative care services to the Marlborough community.

Key Accountabilities are to:

  • take responsibility for the operation of the Hospice Shops (76 – 80 Cleghorn Street) effectively managing the retail operations to maximise fundraising income.
  • manage the team of shop volunteers and ensure that adequate training and support is provided.
  • ensure adequate personnel to cover the shops opening hours, including the identification and appointment of Team Leaders.
  • manage all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing associated with the shop’s operations.
  • advocate for Hospice Marlborough and its community services, raising the profile, promoting understanding of why such fundraising is necessary.

ABOUT YOU

Our successful applicant will have:

  • A highly positive, enthusiastic and energetic attitude with excellent communication skills.
  • Reliable bookkeeping and administrative skills, being proficient with Microsoft Suite.
  • A strong customer service
  • Previous management experience, ideally in retail, with experience of working with volunteers.
  • Experience of roster management.
  • A full clean driver’s license and own vehicle are
  • Legal entitlement to live and work in New Zealand.

Health Care Assistant

The opportunity: Permanent 24 – 32 hrs per week (0.6 – 0.8 FTE)

We have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and experienced Health Care Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team. Based in Blenheim, this role involves working under the direction of a Registered Nurse in our inpatient unit, and community providing support for patients, their families, whānau and carers along their palliative journey.

We want you to bring all your experience, skills, and knowledge so that the patients and family/whānau who enter our service receive the highest level of care possible as they navigate a pivotal chapter in their life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support inpatients with activities of daily living, food and fluid intake.
  • Housekeeping duties to ensure infection control standards are maintained.
  • Contributes to individuals care planning with the registered nurse and evaluation of plans.
  • Provide support for individuals and their whānau, helping to strengthen their own support networks.
  • Providing administrative support: answering phone calls, visitor enquiries and general day to day running of IPU.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives, internal auditing.

The successful applicant will:

Ideally have previous Health Care Assistance experience and hold a New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing or be prepared to work towards the same.

The right person will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be adaptable, calm and a professional attitude.
  • An understanding and committed to the principles of cultural safety.
  • Able to provide evidence of permanent rights to work in New Zealand with no restrictions.
  • Able to provide evidence of a current, clean full driver’s licence

  • Comfortable being in situations where you can relate to a wide range of people who may be experiencing significant personal loss and grief.
  • Any information heard, observed, or obtained during visits remain confidential and stored securely.
  • Friendly and approachable.
  • Specialist training will be provided for this role and ongoing support.

Time commitment:

  • Flexible

A Ministry of Justice background check will be required.

We’re seeking a dedicated volunteer to help with Furniture collection/delivery for our Redwoodtown Shops

  • Must be fit and strong to help with furniture collection from people’s homes/businesses locally in Blenheim. Working alongside another volunteer.
  • Own transport NOT required as there is use of a Hospice Vehicle. Clean driving License a must.
  • This is a casual role as and when there are larger items of furniture requiring collection or delivery.
