Support Hospice
Every little bit helps
The services of Hospice Marlborough are free to our community and as a charitable organisation we receive just over 50% funding from Te Whatu Ora.
As a result, any funding shortfall needs to be fundraised for annually. We could not continue to provide the level and quality of care services we do without our hospice shops, fundraising activities and ongoing support and generosity of our community.
Whether it is buying from our charity shops, donating money/items, volunteering time, offering services in-kind, through business partnerships, leaving bequests, or participating in our events, it is this community support that enables us to continue providing our services across all of Marlborough.
You may also wish to support us by participating in one of our Hospice Marlborough events. Click here to see our Events Guide. If you have a general enquiry about how you may be able to further support Hospice Marlborough, please reach out to Rachael Meiklejohn, Events & Engagement Lead.
The support of our community is truly appreciated, together we can deliver and achieve more.

Make a Donation
Hospice care is all about providing compassionate end-of-life care with respect and dignity.
Your donation helps uphold these values and ensures that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can access this type of care.
Your donation also helps us sustain our mission to provide compassionate, specialized care to individuals and their families during one of life’s most challenging periods. It not only further enables us to fund specialized programs and services that enhance the quality of care provided, it’s also an investment in the well-being and comfort of your community members when they need it most.
If you would like to make a one-off or recurring donation, you can now make these online.

Leave a Legacy
Legacy donations and bequests enable us to serve more individuals and families in the community, extending our reach and impact beyond the present generation.
As a charitable trust, Hospice Marlborough also relies on the generosity of our community through donations and gifts in wills and you may wish to consider designating a specific property, savings, or a portion of your estate as a gift.
They can also be a meaningful way to honour the memory of a loved one who received hospice care or had a connection with us.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who have already made, and are considering making, a gift to Hospice Marlborough in their will.

Donate Items We Need
Looking for another meaningful way to support Hospice Marlborough? Our Wish List offers a simple way to contribute by donating everyday essentials like laundry detergent, cat food, coffee, and other useful supplies. These donations help us maintain a warm, supportive environment for patients and their families. Whether you’re giving financially, leaving a legacy, sponsoring, or organising a fundraiser, donating simple items like the below can also really help to make a difference.

Candles are used in special moments of reflection and remembrance when a person dies. The glow of a candle provides a peaceful, comforting atmosphere for families and staff during this significant time. We ask for candles in glass containers to ensure safety and ease of use in our care spaces.

While tea is generously donated to hospices across New Zealand by Dilmah Tea, being able to offer a cup of coffee also helps create a welcoming atmosphere for patients, families, and visitors. It’s also a simple way to support our hardworking staff during long shifts. Donations of coffee are welcome, providing a comforting gesture to everyone at Hospice Marlborough.

Lexie, our in-house cat and cherished ‘Health & Meowbeing Officer,’ brings comfort, love, and plenty of laughter to staff, patients, and families. To keep her happy and healthy, we welcome donations of cat food – her favourites are Fancy Feast and Temptations, especially chicken flavour! Your support helps Lexie continue her important work at Hospice Marlborough.

While some laundry is professionally managed, we wash many patient related items in-house as part of their daily care. Donations of laundry detergent support the washing of personal clothing and essential items, helping us maintain dignity, comfort, and hygiene for our patients.

Who doesn’t appreciate a good snack? A variety of sweet and savoury treats can make a real difference at Hospice, offering comfort to our patients and their families as they spend time together, often alongside a cuppa or during longer visits. Snacks are also a much-appreciated boost for our staff during busy shifts and well-earned breaks, helping to create a warm, caring and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

Essential oils are used in our diffusers to help create a calm, soothing environment within patient rooms. Gentle scents can provide comfort, promote relaxation, and support a sense of wellbeing during what can be a challenging time.
