Festive Fundraiser Raffle raises $5,000 for Hospice Marlborough

(Tuesday, 19 December 2023)

Thanks to the sponsorship of BNI Blenheim and Pak’nSave Blenheim, the very first Christmas Festive Fundraiser for Hospice Marlborough Raffle was launched across December.

At $5 per ticket, every entry went into the draw to win 1 of 4 grocery vouchers.

As BNI Hospice Liaison Charlotte Parish says “BNI is a dynamic group of business professionals with just over 38 members in our chapter.  As such, we have the capacity to amplify the impact of our modest weekly membership donations to Hospice, into a significantly larger contribution”.

“Hospice New Zealand is BNI’s selected charity and so this fundraising activity is something we hope to continue each year as well as look at other fundraising events for our local Hospice as part of that commitment” she says,

“Who doesn’t love grocery vouchers, especially with so many facing financial challenges in the current economic climate.  As a business owner and a mum of two, it was important we ran an activity that not only raised money for Hospice Marlborough but that was also affordable and relevant enough to also help families in Marlborough.

1,000 tickets went on sale on Thursday 23rd November with the four lucky ticket numbers drawn on Thursday 14th December by our Marlborough Mayor Nadine Taylor.

“BNI has been a key partner of Hospice since 2007 and we truly value that partnership.  We’re also incredibly grateful to BNI Blenheim and Pak’nSave Blenheim for this raffle this year” says Leigh Somerville, Hospice Marlborough Events & Engagement Lead.

As a result of the generous sponsorship of Pak’nSave Blenheim and BNI Blenheim, Hospice Marlborough receives the full $5,000.00 generated from raffle ticket sales.

“Our inpatient and in community care teams have been very busy over this period supporting families with loved ones facing life limiting illness.  As we move towards a new year in remembrance of loved ones lost and those that may be nearing the end of life’s journey, this time of year can be especially difficult.  To receive an injection of $5,000 just before Christmas will absolutely make a difference, enabling us to continue providing the quality-of-care services our community deserves.”

Hospice Marlborough would like to thank BNI Blenheim Originals and Pak’nSave Blenheim for their sponsorship, Councillor Brian Dawson and Mayor Nadine Taylor for taking the time to oversee the raffle draw and the wider Marlborough community for their support in purchasing raffle tickets.

Congratulations to the lucky Raffle winners:
