$9,243 raised at the Annual Hospice Vehicle Display for 2024

(Monday, 25 March 2024)

In its 12th year, the Annual Hospice Vehicle Display has once again demonstrated the incredible power of community spirit.

Thanks to the generous support of Classic Cars Marlborough, the Classic Motoring Society, several sponsors & partners, and our amazing community, together we raised an impressive net total event income of $9,243 for Hospice Marlborough!

The event held each year at the Waterlea Racecourse, open to the general public from 10am to 3pm by a recommended gold coin donation, was a spectacular success, showcasing a stunning collection of classic cars and bringing the community together for a noble cause. The weather was stellar and nearby roadworks did nothing to dampen the spirits of car enthusiasts of all ages as crowds ebbed and flow over the day.  Check out photos in a video reel on the Hospice Marlborough Facebook Page showing a collection of moments from the day, including photos of event lucky raffle ticket winners (Smokie, Chloe & Kayla, Rachael, Duncan, Arfa, Barry & Michelle and Kevin & Carolyn).

Every aspect of the event, from community attendance, owners displaying their cherished classic cars and the purchase of raffle tickets, donations of goods and services for prizes, to the food and coffee vendors, entertainment, additional financial contributions, and volunteer efforts, contributed to this outstanding result.  This support has meant 100% of all proceeds come to Hospice Marlborough, bridging a funding gap of $850,000 annually and further enabling our dedicated hospice team to continue providing specialised palliative care services to patients and families in our community, completely free of charge.

Since its inception in 2012, the Vehicle display has run every year bar one, with extremely bad weather cancelling that event.  Even with the Covid pandemic, the event committee counts their lucky stars – the event went ahead 15 March, one week prior to New Zealand going into its first lockdown on 21 March 2020.

Hospice Marlborough is deeply grateful for the generosity and commitment displayed year on year, with 2024 it’s best yet in terms of fundraising efforts. The participation of the community helps Hospice Marlborough make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2025.

Thank you for helping us to help others.
