Warm Thanks: Lion Foundation Grant Enhances Hospice Discount Shop

(Tuesday, 06 August 2024)

Hospice Marlborough is pleased to share some wonderful news about our Hospice Discount Shop in Redwoodtown.

Thanks to the generous support of The Lion Foundation and the dedicated efforts of David Swanson from Pure Air Conditioning, we have a new heating system that has made a significant difference in our Hospice Discount shop.

The Lion Foundation, with its long-standing commitment to community welfare, has awarded a grant of $7,104 to Hospice Marlborough. This funding has allowed us to replace the old heating system in our Discount Shop. Since 1985, the Lion Foundation has contributed over $1 billion to support numerous charitable causes across New Zealand. Their Regional Grants Committees ensure that local communities directly benefit from these funds, reflecting their dedication to local empowerment and support.

Christine Law, the Hospice Shops Redwoodtown Manager, expressed the importance of this upgrade.

“The Discount Shop faces south, receiving no direct sunlight. The new heat pump provided by Pure Air Conditioning has transformed the space, ensuring a cozy environment for our volunteers and customers alike. This efficient system replaces a 20-year-old heating unit, enhancing comfort and sustainability.”

The Hospice Discount Shop, located on Cleghorn Street in Redwoodtown, next to the main Hospice Shop, offers men’s, women’s, and kids’ clothing, as well as bric-a-brac, all priced affordably with nothing over $5. This upgrade not only improves comfort but also underscores our commitment to providing a welcoming and enjoyable shopping experience for everyone who visits.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Lion Foundation for their generous contribution and to David Swanson of Pure Air Conditioning for his expertise and support in helping to make this project a reality. Together, we continue to strengthen our community and uphold the values of compassion and care that define Hospice Marlborough.
