Hospice Marlborough Welcomes Four New Team Members

(Thursday, 15 August 2024)

Hospice Marlborough is delighted to announce the addition of four new professionals to their Business Support Team.

These new team members bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to supporting Hospice Marlborough’s mission of providing high-quality, compassionate palliative care throughout the community.

On a sunny Marlburian day, the new team members – Kerry, Rebekah, Jan, and Emily – were welcomed with a morning tea where they met the Hospice Marlborough team and completed their induction. The beautiful weather also allowed for a few laughs and pleasant conversations in the Hospice Garden.

Kerry Telfer has joined Hospice Marlborough as the Executive Assistant & Strategic Projects Lead. Kerry is passionate about supporting the Marlborough community and contributing to Hospice Marlborough’s vision of providing compassionate specialist palliative care services and support. With a robust background in executive support and strategic project management, Kerry will oversee the administration team and play a key role in streamlining operations and leading strategic initiatives to support organisational goals.  Kerry brings a proactive, focussed and inclusive approach to driving business and project success. She is eager to bring her enthusiasm, skills and experience to support the team.

Emily Hope and Rebekah Hall have joined the Events & Engagement team, led by Events & Engagement Lead, Leigh Somerville.

Emily, in a newly created part-time position as Communication & Events Assistant, brings a positive and friendly approach to the role. A born and bred Marlburian, Emily is passionate about the region and looks forward to using her skills in communication and event coordination to support Hospice Marlborough’s mission.

“I am looking forward to sharing positive messages and helping to maintain and create wonderful events that enable Hospice Marlborough to continue to raise vital finds needed to provide skilled palliative care in the Marlborough community” says Emily.

Rebekah, originally from the UK steps into the vacant Volunteer Coordinator part-time role as the new Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator.  With a rich background of nearly 30 years in mental health nursing and community support, her experience includes working with the NZ Red Cross and Age Concern.

Known for her warm, approachable manner Rebekah says she is excited to connect with the Hospice Marlborough volunteers and strengthen community outreach efforts. Her background in volunteer management and community engagement will be instrumental in strengthening the Hospice Marlborough volunteer programme and fostering deeper connections within the community.

Jan Mackenzie-Mol, a long-time resident of Picton, is the new Hospice Shops Picton Manager. Jan has been instrumental in establishing the two new charity shops sitting side by side on High Street, with the first shop opened on 26 August 2024.

“I am thrilled to join Hospice Marlborough and look forward to meeting everyone when you come and visit our Hospice Shops in Picton” Jan exclaims, “It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to a cause close to my heart.”

With extensive experience in fundraising and a strong connection to the Picton community, Jan is passionate about supporting the organisation’s mission through these new community hubs.

Hospice Marlborough warmly welcomes Kerry, Emily, Rebekah, and Jan to their team. Their diverse skills and experiences are expected to significantly contribute to the organisation’s continued mission of providing high-quality compassionate palliative care across Marlborough.
