Heartwarming Collaboration Raises $3,159.79

(Marlborough, 19 November 2024)

Hospice Marlborough is pleased to announce that the long-standing partnership between Garden Marlborough and its volunteering programme was yet another success in 2024.

Garden Marlborough, NZ’s premier garden event, was dreamt up by gardeners for gardeners. Celebrating Marlborough’s stunning landscape, it showcases the very best the region has to offer with a range of garden tours, workshops and social events.

For many years, Hospice Marlborough has assisted homeowners of some of the stunning garden tours in welcoming garden enthusiasts and serving morning and afternoon teas.

This year saw Hospice Marlborough volunteers sharing a total of 50 volunteer hours across three gardens over three days serving 506 patrons.

  • Moritaki Garden
  • Westgrove
  • Willows Green

Thanks to the generous support of the community, almost 100% of morning and afternoon tea offerings were provided in-kind by local businesses. This allows Hospice Marlborough to maximise returns from their involvement that will directly support the provision of compassionate, palliative care for those facing life-limiting illnesses in Marlborough.

A special thank you to Kaiaka Catering, Urban Fare Catering, Quench Restaurant, Colombus Coffee Marlborough and Pak N Save Blenheim who kindly supplied the food nourishing guests at each gorgeous garden location. Alongside club sandwiches, sweet treats and fresh fruit, volunteers served guests freshly brewed cups of hot tea and coffee.

While some of Hospice Marlborough’s services are funded by Health New Zealand, fundraising events such as this partnership with Garden Marlborough help to bridge the funding shortfall, of which this year is $850,000. All proceeds raised through events and fundraising efforts, supported by our wonderful community, helps to ensure that Hospice Marlborough can continue providing free, specialist palliative care in a compassionate and dignified manner to those in need.

Special thanks go to the volunteers, event partners, and supporters who made this collaboration possible. Your support makes a profound difference to the lives of others.
